Mothers Day Gifting!
OK so that is easier said then done, you know with mothers day around the corner, It always stresses me out a little.
Its after all a special day for me as a mother (treasure the certificate "for worlds best mum" my kids made me last year) and what in the world do I get my own Mom and Mother-in-law to make them feel extra special?!
Well, of course, first of all Breakfast in Bed. Oh, I am not breaking tradition. After all, my mum is waiting for my delicious salad and bagels (I will share the recipe with you in a future blog)
But how do I make it extra personal? Specially for my Mum in Law for the sake of my husband….
Ok so let me share an advise my friend gave me when I was a newlywed –
" If you want to make your mum in law happy- listen carefully to your mum (in law) for hints
and ideas of gifts that she would not buy for herself but would be excited to receive."
This is the key to any good gift giver. Really paying attention during conversations to what someone loves, creates the best gifts. (OK, so try to be patient when she complains about the neighbors cats… the next thing she would be talkin' about she was in the mall and saw this magnificent piece but bla bla )
I created a couple of collections with things I found for my Mom. One focuses on her dream kitchen (hello I want that kitchen someday!) The other has ideas for her style.
For my mum in law well, in the end of the day, its my husband's job! No????? He is her son!!!!!
Just kidding we sat on it together, after all, I know what ladies like:)
So here are some ideas….
Purchase a gift to match the style and theme in the kitchen, or even better, you can create your own theme and prevent the hassle and headache each time you need to present a gift, just purchase another item of the same kitchen theme.
Suppose we take this "Farmhouse Kitchen Theme;"
Rooster Coaster
You cant go wrong with kitchen necessities like a Utensil Holders, Spoon Rest, Paper Towel Holder or even Salt and Pepper Shaker, well not just the plain ordinary stuff, I am sure she has plenty of them, purchase something unique, this will surely create a warm spot in your mums heart for you each time she is in kitchen using these items. ...
Mums can be humble and self-sacrificing, treating them to something special to help them indulge goes a long way towards letting them know how much they mean to you.
Whose mum doesn't drink coffee or tea should raise their hand....
Hey! nobody...
Mum always has her favorite mug too, I guess its part of motherhood....
Here is another grand idea which could definitely be appreciated, gifting her with something that symbolizes motherhood like cactus or a bear. Gosh, I don't mean you should actually hunt the bear! Servette Home brings to you amazing bear décor to enhance any kitchen.
Bears are cuddly and warm and very loyal to their offspring.
Last but not least, Mum can always enjoy elegant napkin rings or unique serveware.
Now the most important point – In addition to finding the right thing – just do the right thing!
K Correct, you cant recall the last time you spoke to mum. and told her you truly appreciate and love her, so ,now is the time.... I suggest you write her a personal note so that she can reread and cherish the words. Even if writing is not the strong part of you, think, what do you love and appreciate about your mum? What do you hope to pass on to your kids thanks to your mom? Just jot that done in plain meaningful words, any mum would be delighted with such a touching note!
As the saying "Mothers hold their children's hands for a short while, but their hearts forever."
